In the past few decades of the annual "Border War" basketball series between Kansas and Missouri, it has become a tradition for a certain group of Missouri students to do all they can to get in the heads of Kansas players.
Their most famous tactics have been to obtain phone numbers of Kansas players and call them constantly the week leading up to the Kansas/Missouri game. Almost all Jayhawk stars have gotten the attention of the Antlers at one time or another for years.
But as the Border War comes to an end you, the lucky reader, get an inside listen to what Kansas basketball players have heard for decades.
It started last year with an idea, a fake Google Voice phone number from Philadelphia, and a post to a prominent Missouri message board. Although a watchful moderator took down the posted phone number after a while, the damage was done. The phone number, who Missouri fans thought belonged to Marcus Morris, was now being passed around (yeah, that guy had a conversation with "Marcus").
Soon, dozens of voicemails and texts came in during the week leading up to the March 5 showdown at Missouri. While many were unusable, there were some gems in the bunch.
