May be a little pie-in-the-sky, and logistically it can never happen, but interesting column:

In summation - problem: College hoops is nationally irrelevant for all but the 6-8 weeks between the Super Bowl and the end of the tournament. Big non-con events like Maui, the aircraft carrier game, UNC-UK, etc. don't grab eyeballs presumably because people are too fixated on football (college as well as the NFL) to care.
Resolution: Make the season start around New Year's and run into May so the regular season can get more of the spotlight.
This isn't in the column, but I like that CBB taking up the whole semester would keep players from dropping off the map academically before the end of the school year and hurting APR marks.
