Ellis, 6'8'' senior out of Wichita Heights High School will be attending the University of Kansas after he graduates in 2012. He announced his decision earlier this afternoon in a press conference at his high school.

The 24th best prospect in the 2012 class and three time Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year recently completed home visits with Kansas, Kentucky, Kansas State, and Wichita State.

Ellis plans on signing in November during the early signing period.

If reports are true that the University of Kansas has become a target of the ACC, it’s a safe bet the Georgia Tech football team is OK with it.

In a game that may soon be known a conference match-up, ACC powerhouse Georgia Tech roughed up Kansas, 66-24, Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium and reminded the Jayhawks that they play football in this conference, too.

Behind 768 yards of total offense and three scoring drives that took just one play, the Yellow Jackets exacted revenge for last year’s loss in Lawrence and shredded the Kansas defense in just about every way imaginable.

“This team here, they can really expose you,” KU coach Turner Gill said of GT.

“Unfortunately, we did get pretty much exposed in the running game and the passing game.”

At least in total yardage terms, Saturday’s loss was KU’s second worst defensive performance of all-time. Only Nebraska, with 799 yards in 1978, gained more against a KU defense.

Georgia Tech’s 604 yards rushing also represented school records for both sides. Prior to Saturday, the previous record for rushing yards by a KU opponent belonged to Nebraska, which, in 1983, rushed for 567 yards in a 67-13 victory in Lincoln, Neb. The quarterback on that NU team? Turner Gill. Although it’s unlikely that Gill took much credit for Nebraska’s performance in that one, he shouldered all of the blame for Saturday’s debacle.

“I’m always accountable,” he said. “I’m the head football coach. Everything needs to go right here on me. I understand that.”

Despite staying close for two quarters — KU trailed just 24-17 at halftime — the Jayhawks helped Georgia Tech rewrite several school, conference and national records with their inability to stop the Yellow Jackets’ ground game.

    Last Week
: The Jayhawks played the role of the underdog as they pulled of a last minute win against the Northern Illinois Huskies in Lawrence, Kansas. It was a game that included four lead changes and over 950 yards of combined offense. RS Sophomore QB Jordan Webb led the Jayhawks on 21-30 for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns passing along side a regiment of running backs who amassed 295 yards on the ground. Sophomore James Sims gained over 100+ yards on the ground for the second week in a row as he ran in two touchdowns as well.

Georgia Tech's offense had little to complain about in their 49-21 blowout of Mid Tennessee. GT scored 28 straight points to open the game as the MTSU offense didn't get any major points on the board until the fourth quarter. GT's rushing attack was the star of the game as nine different players clocked in positive rushing yards to contribute to GT's 382 yards on the ground. GT also showed it could sling the ball throwing for 202 yards on just 5 completions. Two of GT's touchdowns came on 70+ yard TD passes.

    Players to Watch

    • KU QB Jordan Webb has shown major improvement the past two games compared to last season as he boasts the #4 best QB rating this season in the FBS at 209.2
    • GT WR Stephen Hill: At 6' 5'' this junior WR can tower over defensive backs and he's had success doing that this season. While not getting a lot of action in a run heavy offense he has still racked up over 100 yards receiving in each of the two games this season, scoring at least one touchdown in each.
    Last Meeting
Then redshirt freshman QB Jordan Webb threw three TD passes as Kansas upset No. 15 Georgia Tech 28-25 for their first home win against a ranked team since 2003.
