I guess the voters aren't falling for the Notre Dame bug again. I figured they'd tumble, but not quite all the way down to almost no points in the poll.

They shouldn't have been ranked at all...
Surprised Auburn fell out after an ugly win, but Missouri didn't.

Miami (OH) won the MAC and had 11 wins last year.
Utah St is a bottom feeder in the WAC

Auburn went 13-0 and won the national title. Your point?

not to side with sherry...BUT
I think his point was that mizz, a lesser team than auburn had a better win (perhaps arguably) over a better opponent and auburn, a greater team than mizz, had a worse win over a worse opponent
and if that wasn't his point then I don't know what was

how about the point that 2010 finishes does not equate to a team being good in 2011??? Does that point not translate? By Sherlock's standard, Auburn should be the best team in the country this year...
Miami (OH) lost it's top 3 RB's from last season. Their most experienced back has 21 attempts for 87 yards throughout his career.
They also lost their top WR, and their Kicker (new kicker missed 2 FG's and an XP against Missouri).
PS. Missouri beat them 51-13 last year. If you want to compare drop off. They only had 10 wins.
edit - didn't even look to see what they lost on defense.

Well, since no one had played a game yet in 2011, what else did they have to go off of but last year's results and reputations. Miami (OH) has been a strong member of the MAC in the past and USU hasn't done much in a while. Voters aren't necessarily rational.

didn't say he was wrong or right, just clarifying what I thought his point was
I'm pretty sure that it's more because Mizzou is in flyover country and no one gives a crap about what happened. You guys give these writers too much credit for their critical thinking skills when it comes to their votes.
