190lb linebacker might work in MAC, but I just can't see it working in Big 12. James Holt was a slimmer linebacker and he was was still around 225.

Holt wasn't 225. I would say around 210. But, I still get your point.

Could be 007, but Holt was officially weighed at the combine and he was 223. KU official roster had him at 226.

KU's official roster has Kande at 194.

That said we are splitting hairs because James Holt was 2-3 inches taller than Kande.

So he's gonna play outside linebacker. Pretty much a strong safety or rover there anyway. Then we play in the Big 12, against teams who mostly all use the spread exclusively. So he will be playing pass coverage or zone blitzing most of the time anyway.

All the complaints last year were about how slow the linebackers and defense in general were. Now they try adding more speed by moving a strong safety, pretty much a part time linebacker where we already have plenty of guys to play, into a full time linebacker role, where we are vastly undermanned, and you're gonna bitch about it?

Going smaller and faster to stop the spread doesn't work. It's a nice little theory though.
